Fitness and Nutritional Counseling

As an adjunct to health screenings, BIOSTAT offers current, professionally accepted fitness and nutritional recommendations. Comprehensive flyers and personal consultations are designed to assist you in reaching your optimal weight, strength, energy, glucose and lipid/cardiac risk levels. Vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements are discussed in regard to their indication, dosage and action. Realistic expectations, based on your present level of fitness and established fitness goals, are fostered as a result. Once we have established you as a client, you are free to call/e-mail your questions at any time regarding your diet, supplementation or exercise training regimen.

Because of the vast nutritional products brought to market on an ever increasing basis, we occasionally run into a supplement or related question we are inclined to research before rendering our opinion. In that event, we'll provide our evaluation promptly following further investigation to ensure a reasonably accurate assessment. Please bear in mind, individuals are not biological clones or "cookie cutters" of each other and supplementation can interact with your unique biochemistry somewhat differently than it might another. Allergies in particular must be taken into consideration, especially if suspected yet not yet diagnosed. You might be suprised to learn that our individual biochemical uniqueness plays nearly as much a role in the research, evaluation and safe administering (dosage) of nutritional supplements as it does with traditional pharmaceuticals. We render our comprehensive recommendation with respect to your individual health history (including but not limited to allergies, current prescription interactions, etc.), in conjuction with the most current data available. To assist us with our evaluation and recommendations, we ask that you provide answers (to the best of your knowledge) to our basic health questionaire. Your physician may have additional records with regard to your health history that should also be considered. Consequently, we highly advise our clients to share our diet and supplementation recommendations with their primary care physician (PCP)prior to commencement. Even if you feel you are the epitome of health, your PCP should always be kept in the loop as they play a considerable role as a key member of your preventative health care team.

Many of our clients are health conscious and privy to a whole host of "breakthrough discoveries". Much of what we do at BIOSTAT is combine years of related education, scientific literature, personal and client experience in an attempt to make sense of the bombardment of supplemental claims posed to us on a regular basis. Some of us here at BIOSTAT are current or former athletes and experienced in following our own supplement program. Yet for even the most seasoned nutritionist/athlete, it's often an ominous task sifting and challenging the latest claims without any available long-term studies. In our quest for understanding our sometimes arcane human biochemistry, we make it our mission to research all claims thoroughly. We balance both an inductive (outside-in or holistic) approach with the traditional deductive (inside-out or empirical) approach to determine your nutritional needs in both an effort to prevent the early onset of disease as well as slow the aging process.
